Picacho Peak Wildflowers

Picacho Peak is a state park about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson Arizona. While its claim to fame is the site of the westernmost battle of the Civil War, it is really known for the dramatic display of wildflowers on the flanks of the mountains.

The wildflowers in this picture are Mexican Poppies (yellow-orange) and Blue Lupine. The cacti pictured are Saguaros, most too young to have the dramatic arms that are characteristic of older plants.
